What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a long-acting analog of a naturally occurring hormone in the body (GLP-1) and was FDA approved in 2021 for the treatment of obesity and well as readily prescribed for treatment of diabetes since 2017.
What is GLP-1?-
Glucagon-like peptide-1 (or GLP-1) is a naturally occurring hormone in the body that is secreted in the gut and targets multiple receptors throughout the body related to appetite and hunger.
Who is not a candidate for Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is not recommended for those who have ever had (or have a family history of) a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or if you (or a member of your family) have an endocrine system condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Semaglutide is also not recommended for those who have had a serious allergic reaction to Semaglutide or any of the ingredients in semaglutideTM. Semaglutide is not recommended for those with Type I diabetes.

How long is the treatment and what does it include?
The length of treatment depends on the amount of weight you desire to lose. We recommend giving this medication 12 weeks to fully start seeing results and after that if you have not lost any weight, to discontinue use.
How fast will I start to lose weight?
While taking Semaglutide, some people begin to see results within the first eight weeks, but most begin to see results within 12 weeks. Clinical trials have shown that study participants taking a weekly dose of Semaglutide had an average reduction in body weight of 5-10 percent.
